Korean skincare routine
Korean skincare is introduced as part of everyday health habits from a very young age. The Korean approach to skincare is very gentle and long-term. It is important to take care of the skin's hydration and the well-being of the protective barrier.
Anti-age skincare begins long before the first signs of aging even appear, with a gentle and consistent well age routine. Traditional hanbang ingredients of Korean skincare, such as ginseng and rice, have been used for centuries and play a key role in keeping the skin elastic and youthful.
Steps of the Korean skincare routine
Learn the 10-step Korean skincare routine and find our product recommendations for different skin types in our article.
You can get off to a good start with the K-Beauty routine in just three steps, but from this list you will find every step for all 10 phases:
- Makeup removal with an oil-based cleanser (first step of double cleansing)
- Skin cleansing with a water-based cleanser (second step of double cleansing)
- Exfoliation
- Toner
- Face mask, either cream mask or sheet mask
- Essence, serum, and ampoule (one or more)
- Eye cream
- Moisturizer
- Night mask and lip sheet mask
- Sunscreen
Not all steps are necessarily meant to be done in one routine or even in one day; rather, the Korean 10-step skincare routine refers to comprehensive skin care over a week or even a month. Products and steps are adapted and varied according to the skin's needs and personal preference.

Korean facial cleansing products for effective yet gentle double cleansing: cleansing balms, cleansing oils, makeup removers, micellar waters and cleansing wipes, cleansing foams, cleansing milks and cleansing gels.
Korean toners, toner pads, face mists and exfoliating toners to give the face the first dose of hydration, and prepare the skin for the next steps of the routine.
Whether the concern is dry skin, oily skin, uneven skin tone, pimples or wrinkles and fine lines, Korean essences, serums and ampoules treat the skin effectively yet gently.
For many, the first contact with Korean skincare is K beauty facial masks; sheet masks live up to their reputation, but also good are the wash-off facial masks as well as night masks and lip masks.
Korean sunscreen - once you try it, you probably won't use anything else. You can choose from both inorganic and organic, but also hybrid sunscreens for the face that combine the best of both. My own busy morning savior from Korea is tinted, i.e. tone up sunscreen, and a handy addition to the handbag is sunscreen sticks.
